“We belong to the light, we belong to the thunder”
We belong to the sound of the words, we’ve both fallen under.”
This is a post about living under the influence. Not the influence of drugs or alcohol. Nooooo – something much more powerful. I’m talking about music and lyrics.
It doesn’t take a lot – a musical phrase, a rhythm – and the song has its way with us. It rushes through us, opening doors to emotions and memories. It messes with time – we go back to the first time we heard it. We remember the surroundings – the details. We are young again. Its all still in there. Music holds the keys.
Any songs like that for you?
“We Belong” – by Pat Benatar – written by Lowen and Navarro in 1984.
